Welcome to AUC’s Phi Chi Website!
Welcome to AUC’s very own Phi Chi website. Here we’ll stay in touch, organize events and publicize who we are and what we do all in a convenient online forum.
First, as a member, you’ve got to register in order to publish posts, upload pictures and write comments. Click here to register. Please use your full name as your username and enter the email address you use the most. An email will be sent to you with your password. You can then log in and change it to whatever you see fit.
Click on to read the rest of the introductory instructions on how to write a post to the site.
Ok, you’re logged in, now what? You should be on what’s called the Dashboard. You’ll see a bunch of words and links that may be confusing, but don’t worry. It’s not that bad. To write a post for all the fraternity to see simply click “Write” in the upper left side of the page. Once on the next page you should see a cursor blinking in the title box. As assumed, you put the title of whatever you’re about to write in the box. The larger white box below is home to the actual body of your post. See, nothing too hard. On the right you’ll notice a box that says “Publish Status.” Unpublished means what you’re writing is a work in progress and it’s not on the site yet. Published is the opposite. It’s live on the site, but you can still edit it if you happen to want to change anything. Certain posts you’ll write need to be only for the fraternity. That’s were the “Keep this post private” check box comes into play. Only members of the fraternity will see what you post when that’s checked.

Ok, now it’s time to spice up your dull text. Above your writing you’ll see a series of buttons. Similar to Microsoft Word each of the icons changes the text the same. The “B” bolds words, “I” italicizes, etc. To add a hyperlink to another website, highlight the word you want to link and click the icon that looks like a chain (the 10th from the left). A pop-up will appear asking for the link. Paste the link then hit “insert.” Go ahead and mess around with the other buttons to see what they do.
Now for images. Above the buttons to change text you’ll see “Add Media.” Best way to learn this is to see it done. That being said, here’s a video from some nasally speaking guy showing you how to upload pictures.
Categories time. What’s the category, theme or purpose of your post? Are you making an event announcement regarding Wine and Cheese or are you reminding people about upcoming meetings? Either way, the key to a well built site is organization. It’s good etiquette to categorize your posts for those who want to peer into the past for nostalgia sake. Scroll down a little below the post text box and tick the check box for the proper category. That’s it.
Congratulations on your first post. If you were just writing it to learn and want to delete it click on “Manage” along the top of the page. Find and choose your post and click the checkbox next it it. Then, click on “Delete” just above that. That’s it.
